Ford has recently updated its Focus hatchback, introducing a range of interior and exterior updates to the fourth-generation vehicle. One of the most notable changes is the introduction of Sync 4 to the vehicle’s systems, which offers a range of new features and improvements.

Interior

One of the most significant updates to the Focus hatchback’s interior is the new 13.2-inch display screen. This screen is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and can now connect wirelessly to your phone, rather than requiring a cable. This means that you no longer have to deal with the hassle of wires in the way when connecting your phone to the car’s system.

All Ford Focus hatchback 1.0 EcoBoost come with:

Driver convenience

  • 2" Colour TFT Ice blue illumination analogue cluster with trip computer
  • Ford SYNC 4 Navigation with 13.2'' touchscreen, DAB radio, Emergency Assistance, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, 6 speakers & FordPass Connect
  • Lane keeping system - lane keeping alert and lane keeping aid
  • PAS
  • Eco mode
  • Rev counter

The new Sync 4 software also offers clean, modern graphics and is very easy to use. Everything is located on the display screen or based along a strip along the bottom, making it easier to navigate and control your car’s systems.

Practicality and comfort

In terms of practicality and comfort, the Ford Focus hatchback is well-thought-out and offers plenty of space for both the driver and passengers. The driving position is excellent, making it easy to reach all of the controls, and the seats are supportive and comfortable, even during longer journeys.

The centre armrest lifts to reveal a deep space for items you don’t use as often, while a shallow tray can be placed on top to keep smaller items in place. The cup holder tray is adjustable and can hold two bottles of varying sizes, and can be covered to keep smaller items out of sight if needed.

The back of the car is also impressively roomy, with a flatter rear floor that ensures everyone has enough foot space. With the seats down, the car offers 1,350 litres of space, making it perfect for carrying larger items or for use as a family car.

Performance and visibility

if you’re looking for a car that offers great performance and visibility, the Ford Focus is the car for you. This car is a great size for town driving, feeling light and manoeuvrable in traffic. The more powerful petrol engine feels nippy and responsive, and the steering is also well-weighted, making it ideal for nipping in and out of junctions.

But it’s not just in town where this car excels. On the motorway, the Focus is impressively refined. Spend some time at 70mph and you’ll find that there’s a little wind and road noise, but it’s not too intrusive, so you’re left to enjoy the comfortable journey.

On twisty country roads, the Ford Focus really comes into its own. Although the Focus is comfortable and refined on the motorway, it’s winding countryside roads where it really shines. It is rated by far the best-handling car in its class on country roads by a lot of drivers.

Its impressive handling, comfortable ride, and excellent visibility make it a great choice for anyone who wants a reliable, practical car that can handle a variety of road conditions.

The petrol 1.0 EcoBoost has an average fuel economy of 55mpg with a top speed of 119mpg.

Visibility

But performance isn’t everything – visibility is also important, especially for learners and driving instructors. Fortunately, the Ford Focus offers great visibility all around. The vehicle has big front and rear windows with the pillars of the car being no bigger than the average hatchback, making it ideal for learners. The over-the-shoulder view is wide and unobstructed, unlike other vehicles with thick C pillars. Overall, the visibility is ideal for someone who wants that extra bit of visibility that other vehicles don’t offer. The speedometer is also visible from both the passenger and the driver’s seat, perfect for driving instructors.

The updates to the Ford Focus hatchback are impressive, offering a range of new features and improvements that make the car even more practical and comfortable to drive. The Ford Focus hatchback is definitely worth considering.
